After-hours Visits and Calls
We offer 24 hour call coverage, 7 days a week. We are here to help you, so don't hesitate to call. Nine times out
of ten we can give advice over the phone that will spare you an unnecessary trip to the emergency department or urgent care
center. After regular business hours, simply call our same daytime office number to reach our nurse answering service:

will then be connected to a pediatric nurse at our pediatric answering service. Most often, they can answer your question.
If the nurse needs a physician's help, they can immediately page the on call doctor.
Who is on call?
The Pediatric Center is fortunate to belong to a group of private pediatric practices that cover call for each other.
At the end of the day, we sign out to the pediatrician on call so we can go home and spend time with our families and
children. The on call pediatrician follows our babies in the nursery, answers patient's emergency pages, and sees our
patients in their office on the weekends.
When someone other than Dr. Edwards, Dr. Player, or Dr. Jackson is on call, they come from one of the following

Weekend Office Hours
The office that is on call for the weekend always has Saturday morning and Sunday morning walk-in hours from 9 AM - 11
AM. It is a first-come, first-serve basis on the weekend. The wait is usually shorter than waiting in the
ER, and you are seen by a pediatrician.

Emergency Room Visits and Admissions
If you must go to the ER, the ER physicians will take care of your child. If your child is seen by a pediatrician
in the ER, or must be admitted to Pediatrics overnight, we now have board-certified pediatric hospitalists at the Betty H.
Cameron Women's and Children's Hospital that take care of our inpatient children, 24-7. These are physicians
that take care of hospitalized children exclusively, so they are well trained and experienced. They keep us updated
on our children that are admitted, and let us know when you are discharged.
