Are you an expecting mother?

If you would like one of The Pediatric Center's pediatricians to be your baby's doctor, you
can simply tell the staff on the obstetrics floor at New Hanover Regional Medical Center when you check in that you want Dr. Edwards, Dr. Player, or Dr. Jackson for your pediatrician. Your baby will actually be assigned to us before he
or she is ever born! When you do deliver, your baby will appear on our rounding list automatically in the hospital data
base that we access frequently from the office or home. The nurses will also call us to let us know of about our newest
patient. We round in the nursery up to three times a day, so we check on babies frequently. If it is the middle
of the night or the weekend, they will contact the on-call physician. We will still be the ones that see your new baby the next business day.
We also offer a New Mom Class once a month, where we go over what will
happen in the hospital and cover the first two weeks of home life with a new little bundle of joy in the house!
Our new patients love the class, have less anxiety about having a new baby, and have a chance to meet their pediatrician
before they deliver.
To sign up for a new mom class, call our office during business hours for upcoming dates.
Is your child sick? Yes, they can be seen by a doctor today!

Babies and children can get sick at any moment. That's life. And
that's why we have an open scheduling system with two pediatricians in the office all day long. That means
we don't turn away sick patients because you don't have a scheduled appointment. After you are an established patient
at The Pediatric Center, we will always see you the same day your child becomes sick, whether it's morning or afternoon!
Just remember to be patient with us as we try to work you into our busy schedule. However, we encourage you to please call first and make an appointment before you come. If
you call first, then we can give you an appointment time to reduce your child's waiting time. Our posted business hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and lunch is daily from 12:00 noon
to 2:00 PM. However, we often work through lunch and late into the day until everyone is seen! Please
call first to let us know you are coming if you wish to make an appointment during regular business hours.
Are you new to town and need a new pediatrician? Wilmington is a rapidly growing area due to our vibrant economy, our quality of life, and our proximity to the coast.
Due to the recent surge in Wilmington's pediatric population, we are now currently not accepting new patients except newborns.
In the future, we may reopen to new patients other than newborns, so keep checking back.
