Scheduling Your Visit

Due to the Coronavirus, we are currently not doing walk-ins. We are still open, but please call first before any visits. All parents are now checking in via their phone from the parking lot, and patients are sent straight to the room once it is available to avoid exposure to others. All well visits are now in the morning, and sick visits are in the afternoons. We are doing our best to screen all patients who may have COVID-19 to keep them from coming into the office. We are also now offering Telemedicine Visits for problems that can be diagnosed and managed without you needing to leave your home! Sick visits that require an in-person visit but do not have COVID-19 symptoms can be scheduled in the afternoon as well.

If you are worried your child may have COVID-19, please call our office for what to do. We are now doing limited COVID-19 testing outside by appointment only. For more information on COVID-19, visit www.cdc.gov/coronavirus

Are you an expecting mother?

If you would like one of The Pediatric Center's pediatricians to be your baby's doctor, you can simply tell the staff on the obstetrics floor at NHRMC Betty H. Cameron Women's and Children's Hospital when you check in that you want Dr. Edwards, Dr. Player, Dr. Jackson, or Dr. Renton for your pediatrician. Your baby will actually be assigned to us before he or she is ever born! When you do deliver, your baby will appear on our rounding list automatically in the hospital data base that we access frequently from the office or home.

The Pediatric Hospitalists at NHRMC Betty H. Cameron Women's and Children's Hospital are in the hospital 24/7 and will be rounding every day on your baby and overseeing their care. We feel having your new baby covered by in-house Pediatricians throughout their stay is the safest way to care for them.

Our doctors from The Pediatric Center also make rounds in the hospital during the week and will see you prior to your discharge to answer any questions and discuss the care of your new baby.

When your child is sick

Babies and children can get sick at any moment. That's life. And that's why we have an open scheduling system with at least two pediatricians in the office all day long. After you are an established patient at The Pediatric Center, we keep an open schedule for sick patients, so when your child needs a doctor, during the week we can see you that same day.

During the week, we ask that you please call first and make an appointment before you come. Our sick-visit scheduling is similar to the Disney® FASTPASS ticket for riding their most popular attractions. By calling ahead, we can give you an approximate appointment time to significantly reduce your child's wait time. Just like the FASTPASS, this prevents everyone from showing up at once and decreases the wait times for everyone. Some days your wait is zero, others it may be longer. Our goal is to have you in and out of the office in under an hour even on our busiest days.

To Make a Routine Appointment

If you need to make an appointment for your child for a routine physical or a non-urgent follow up appointment, you can either call our office at 910 762-2651 during routine business hours, or request one online through our Patient Portal.

We are currently not accepting older patients transferring from other practices

Wilmington is a rapidly growing area due to our vibrant economy, our quality of life, and our proximity to the coast, which attracts young families with children. We will from time to time open up to accept new patients who are from out of town and are moving to the area and currently do not have a pediatrician. This is usually in the summer months when the office is slower. We are currently not accepting new patients except for newborns.
