We firmly believe in the effectiveness of vaccines to prevent serious illness and to save lives.
We firmly believe that all children and young adults should receive all of the recommended vaccines according to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
We firmly believe, based on all available literature, evidence, and current studies, that vaccines or their preservatives do not cause autism or other developmental disabilities.
We firmly believe that vaccinating children and young adults may be the single most important health-promoting intervention we perform as healthcare providers, and that you can perform as parents/caregivers.
The vaccine campaign is truly the victim of its own success. It is precisely because vaccines are so effective at preventing
illness that some would question whether or not they should still be given. Because of vaccines, most people today have
never seen a child with polio, tetanus, whooping cough, meningitis, or even chickenpox or known someone who died
from these diseases that are preventable. Such success can give us a false sense of security that these diseases no longer
pose a threat, and such an attitude, if it becomes widespread, can become dangerous and lead to tragic results. When you
don’t vaccinate, you take a significant risk with your child’s health and the health of others around them.
Because we are committed to protecting the health of your children through vaccination, we require all of our patients to
be vaccinated according to the ACIP schedule and not on a delayed schedule. Infants will receive all age-appropriate
recommended vaccines as well as booster doses. Children will receive additional recommended booster doses by the time
they enter Kindergarten. Preteens will receive school-required vaccinations by the time they are 13 years old. We will
complete the 16-year teen vaccinations before they leave for college.
If you absolutely refuse to vaccinate your child, we will ask that you find another healthcare provider who shares your
views. We do not keep a list of such providers, nor would we recommend such a physician. Again, please recognize that
by not vaccinating, you are putting your child at unnecessary risk of life-threatening illness and disability, or even death.
Thank you for reading our policy.
